The public reaction to a video of a Melbourne woman being stabbed while walking to work has been one of horror and dismay, as Victorians come to terms with the failures of both government and police to address the out of control crime wave. So it comes as no surprise for many of us to learn that this attack happened weeks ago, and at some level whether government or police it was decided to keep information about the dangers faced by the public in Melbourne hidden.
This is especially insulting considering that Jacinta Allan was on television just days ago telling the public how safe they are in Victoria, when it’s obvious that is the furthest thing from the truth at the moment.
This woman was lucky to have survived, with the knife missing her heart by inches, while still rendering her in hospital for three days with a punctured lung. How many more Victorians have to suffer and die before the Allan government and Victoria Police come clean about their failures, or start taking real action to keep the community safe from these criminals running wild on bail?
